May 9 - Friday - Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas
We've woken to an absolutely gorgeous day - sunny and not cloud in the sky - probably around 30 C so we decided to hit the pools. The Mandalay Bay has several pools and several pool complexes - the wave pool; the Lazy River; and regular swimming pools. Did I mention that we're not customers here, or guests - we are "Resortists"!!! I wonder who got paid a squillion dollars to come up with that Mickey Mouse name.
The Lazy River anyway, was anything but Mickey Mouse - but it was expensive to rent the tubes in which one floats down the LR - $70 for the day. So John, bless him, headed off to find a Walmart where he purchased three floatation devices (for $19, and they're ours!) - and we were the envy of all who floated down that Lazy River. Ours were complete with drink holders - not that we used them as such, because every time we went under the waterfalls, they filled with water that no doubt contained its fair share of pee and floaties. We had a wow of a time and enjoyed being in a lovely relaxing cool place.

We had plans of going to a Jazz in the Park, but without a picnic rug or chairs it all became too difficult. Concierge was useless at trying to get something - "Maybe you could try Target or Walmart". Surely we're not the only "Resortists" who would choose to do something like this. Maybe it will give them something to think about anyway for future resortists.
So we decided to head to "downtown Las Vegas" - Fremont Street - where we'd been told, "It's all been cleaned up now"! I hate to think of what it was like before but ...

I'm not sure I'd pass "Nana 101" school, there were some very ugly and unsavoury sights amongst them. Claire asked to have her photo taken with some casino dancing/prancing girls - but I think they might have had a bit more to themselves than met the eye (but with their getup, it was hard to see if they were sporting Adam's Apples!
We had a good dance to a band that was playing further up the street - some Men at Work stuff and Pseudo Echo. Great stuff. John got the word beforehand that "Pizza Rock" was a great place to dine and it was.
Back to the Mandalay and bed.
