ANZAC Day was actually yesterday Australian time so we commemorated it yesterday with me wearing my gorgeous handmade poppy brooch that I bought in September at the "Flanders Field Museum" in Ypres. Such wonderful memories of our time spent on the Western Front and treasured times spent amongst the graves there acknowledging those who gave their lives for us.
Today we had another late start, being woken by the maid who was startled to see three bodies in beds ... and it was after 10 am. So we scrambled to get organised - we did have good intentions of getting up and moving by 9 am today.
After checking out and loading the car, we headed to the Getty Museum. However our plans changed once again - we ended up on Rodeo Drive. I know - going from the sublime to ... ... I don't think we will actually get to either of the Getty establishments now on this trip. I did intend to get to the Getty Museum this trip after having to dump it from the itinerary last year, but it will just have to get added to the next trip.

Rodeo Drive is on Claire's "Bingo Board" and she felt a great sense of achievement to cross it off - and we played "What's the Time Mr Wolf" in the gardens just north of the Drive, and as she had a square on her game called, "play a game in a park", two things got crossed off the board.
We saw the gorgeous Bugetti outside the shop where you have to pay (I think I remember from last year's Rasta Bus Tour), $2,500 just in order to go into the shop. Needless to say, we didn't.

From Rodeo Dve we ventured to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Grauman's Chinese Theatre where we saw more than our share of weird and whacky folk. Claire was keen to have her photo taken with all and sundry Disney characters but we told her to wait patiently, she'll get the real deal in a few weeks' time.

Claire noted that Marilyn wrote on her two stones, "Men Prefer Blondes"! We walked the strip and bade our farewells via "Mel's Diner" where we grabbed a quick bite of more fat food - we are truly so over burgers and fries - but there weren't any other places to eat.
The commute traffic in LA is horrendous. At Pat's place, we caught up with Jeff and Sandra and prepared for the big garage sale. Pat lives in a "Patio Homes" estate in Murrieta which is really quite all-encompassing: there are churches of all persuasions along the road leading in to Pat's estate; a large shopping centre that houses all types of needs from hair dressing and waxing salons to pharmacies and "In and Out Burgers", "Tex Mex" and supermarkets; and right down the road there's a morgue and cemetery - all you need really from when you move in to when you move out.
Such a shame you missed the Getty. Ask Claire which Hollywood star worked at the In and Out Hamburgers? Hint, think of a character he played who ages backwards!
