April 27 - Farewell WeHo

We have been soooo busy since we left WeHo and the company of the gorgeous gay community that is West Hollywood. The pedestrian crossings are even painted in the colours of the rainbow and several stores had clothing hanging and umbrellas, flags and bunting all over in the brightest of colours, it looked Fabulous!

An hour's drive from WeHo to Pat's place in Murrieta took us two and a half hours thanks to the commute traffic - who on earth would ever live here in this traffic?!  It is insane.  We enjoyed Pat's company - she is 82 but is still no different to Pat of 30 years ago when I first met her; she's so full of life and cheek.

We're here in Chili's (a restaurant that has little computer-thingys on each table that form part of the menu reordering system, but you also get to play games on it ... So, I'm getting little to no help in writing this post because my two travelling companions have their collective heads in the computer-thingy trying to beat everyone else who is connected to the same game at every other Chili's restaurant all over the place.  We've found the food a bit challenging - there's just so much and it's so fatty ... I'm sure we'll be "super-sized" too by the time we get home.  The margaritas that John and I are drinking would serve ten of us if we were at home - they're served in jugs here.

We stayed two nights at Pat's and got our bodies back into the right time zone. Claire was able to do a huge chunk of her school work there and us girls hit the salon to have a mani-pedi - so look out Ebb, I think one little girl has got a taste for them!

Pat must have known we would be there last weekend - she had a garage sale! John was a dear and got up to help at 6 am and got a good head cold for his efforts. Pat was happy with her sales and she's now got half of her garage back again.

It's been great catching up with Tony and Lisa and the kids - we were hoping that Claire would be able to go to school with Alexis for one or two days (just like her Dad did thirty or so years ago), but the school district board unfortunately denied our request. But after flying in from Texas on Sunday morning, Tony took all the kids rock climbing, and Claire loved it. Then on to the frozen yoghurt shop to get a 10 oz cup of frozen yoghurt - no problems if you couldn't fill your container with 10 oz of yoghurt, you just topped it up with jelly bellies, chocolate sprinkles, M&m's, chocolate covered marshmallows, multi-coloured sprinkles, sour worms ... ... Like I said, "super-sized" comes to mind!

We caught up with Lisa and Alexis at Iris Lane, after they had done a show for "Origami Owl", Lisa's new business.  Check it out online - she's a designer for this gorgeous jewellery line.  Dinner with one of Tony's business connections, Ives, at a local restaurant and yet another late night.
