A lazy morning except for John who went to the store to buy some supplies for brekky then we took off to explore San Francisco. Our intention was to head over to Sausalito then to Muir Woods, but we got as far as showing John and Claire the Waller Street house I stayed in this time last year, the Buena Vista Gardens and Almond Park. Almond Park is found on the classic postcards that show the San Franciscan city skyline that lies behind the beautiful coloured Victorian homes - and we took some of our own postcard pictures.
On our way to cross the Golden Gate Bridge, we passed the Marina, opposite the Palace of Fine Arts and lo and behold "Wanderlust" was happening, so we didn't get any further. A huge group of people were doing yoga en masse. It was a wonderful sight. John and I joined the queue to get a free 10-minute massage while Claire joined in the yoga class for an hour. What joy! There were lots of photographers taking photos of stall holders, volunteers and participants, so Claire scrambled to try to get her photo taken by as many photographers as possible. Who'd have thought?!

Women and men were performing some amazing feats with one person lying on their back, while the other was supported in various positions. (That sounds wrong on so many levels, but see the pics!). So Claire then turned her attention to this form of exercise, called "acro-yoga". Claire absolutely loved it!

Along with Claire, the woman holding Claire learnt a new pose from the woman standing alongside them. They were all thrilled that this worked. Claire was particularly chuffed with herself, as well she might be.
We managed to get to the city side of the Golden Gate Bridge and got some great photos - and look, no fog to be seen! It was chilly with the wind coming in off the Bay from the ocean, but we rugged up against the cold.

We finished off the evening at a Thai restaurant in the Richmond area of SF. Good food and an early night at hand. (John wrote that! He's sound asleep in bed. It's 2.15 am and I'm still blogging. We didn't have either the time or much internet connection in Yosemite Valley, hence there are abut five posts tonight I've had to catch up on. Hope you're enjoying them all.)
On our way home tonight, we saw some more wildlife - this time a racoon! It scampered across the road, right in front of us as we were driving in the street parallel with ours, just around the corner. I've never seen a racoon before and we were all pretty excited. Not enough time to take a photo unfortunately, but we did see it!
Well I guess this is the last leg of your amazing holiday and it sure looks like you all have had a fantastic time and one I am sure you will remember for a long time. Wish you a safe trip home and look forward to catching up with you when you get home. Love Lynette xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynette. We've got two more weeks to go. This week in San Francisco, then down to Santa Clara for three days for Ryan and Mandy's wedding and the last three days in Disneyland. We're heading off to the city now to take the ferry out to Alcatraz. Another Jnr Ranger coming up!

What's happening with your camper trailer? Will you still use it, or just use the caravan. One year today since Dad died. It's hard to believe it's been one full year already.
