Wed May 7 - Grand Canyon to Kingman
With a nudge and a little prodding, John got up at 5.15 am, grabbed the camera and went rim-side to capture the sunrise for us. It's minus zero this morning and Claire and Nana ... we're staying snuggled in our beds. Bless Pa!

Claire stepped outside the Lodge and came back in screaming, "It's snowing, it's snowing!" And sure enough, it was! So Claire spent the next hour or so running around with her tongue out, doing what all Americans do, 'try to catch a snowflake on your tongue'.
We tried to find Ranger Rob Hannawacker so he could swear in Clair as a Jnr Ranger but unfortunately, it's his day off. So we headed to the main Visitor Centre and the deed was duly done, by Ranger Scot Babawatch and Claire is now a GCJR. (And yes, they are their true names!)

As we drove out of the Grand Canyon National Park, a beautiful beast lined each side of the road - here's one of them - it was as if they were there to farewell us. What a wonderful time we've had here.

We had a late lunch, once again on Route 66 in Williams, at the "Italian Bistro Wood Fired Pizza" and it was a real winner. We browsed the shops and marvelled (aghast) once again at the fact that in Arizona, one does not need to conceal a weapon. Maybe it's better that we do see them, who knows? Just how many are worn concealed?!
We found a Ross' store and shopped - once again for "you-know-who"!!! And accommodation found, courtesy of Tony, at Best Western Plus in Kingman.
Congratulations Claire on becoming a junior ranger, how exciting I bet you are very proud of yourself. I am so happy for you nana and pa for having such a great holiday and I am sure you will remember this forever, with lots of memories, photo's and stories which you can look back on and remember all the great things you have seen. Hope Nana had a lovely mother's day yesterday. I had dinner with all my kids and of course the grandson's. I had a lovely day with lots of presents. I guess you rang your mum and wished her a happy mother's day. Keep enjoying your holiday and we are enjoying reading everything you have been doing. Take care of each other and stay safe.
